Caribou 231

Announcing the official unveiling of Caribou 231.

This events marks the successful delivery and re-assembly of Caribou 231 and commemorates the first flight of Caribou into Vung Tau, Vietnam on the 8th August 1964, by RAAF Transport Flight Vietnam which later became 35 Squadron.

Hands up every Vietnam veteran who had the pleasure of riding with “Wallaby Airlines”.

Do you remember the comfortable adjustable seats, the whisper quiet engines, the attentive cabin crew and the in-flight service?

For all of us who experienced a flight or two in the back of a Caribou in country, here is an opportunity for a walk down memory lane not to be missed, and an opportunity to support YOUR Museum.

Come see the old bird formally launched and let the memories flow! Why not make a day of it at Phillip Island and hit the museum in time to have a bbq snag and a drink prior to the time of the official launch?

While you are there, why not take the opportunity to join FRIENDS of the Museum and enjoy the benefits that membership attracts?

For FRIENDS members, identify yourself at the Merchandise Sales counter and receive a 20% discount on purchases on the day; spend $100 and the discount has almost paid for a year of Friends membership-bargain!

I’ll be there with bells on, come bend my ear with your stories of your rides in the Caribou-best yarn will win a merchandise voucher.

For those of you who love getting your head on, there will be plenty pics taken for the website and FSB Vic.
