DESCRIPTION:See the drawings of Will Dyson\, appointed Australia‚Äôs first official war artist in 1917 in the Changing face of Victoria exhibition.\nDyson called war a ‚Äòfilthy business‚Äô ‚Äì learn about his intention to accurately capture the experience of being a soldier in World War I. \nJoin us under the Dome at dusk for a series of specialist collection talks. From medieval marvels to Victoria‚Äôs calisthenics craze\, enjoy an evening of curiosity with our curators as they reveal the stories behind some of their most exciting collection discoveries in the dome galleries. \nState Library Victoria is Australia‚Äôs oldest public library and a beautiful heritage building located in the heart of Melbourne. The Library‚Äôs distinctive spaces\, from the 19th-century Ian Potter Queen‚Äôs Hall\, to the contemporary theatrette are host to a diverse range of vibrant programming for all ages. Boasting beautiful surrounds\, the Library is a welcoming place to languish on the lawn\, play a game of giant chess or take in a pop-up event on the forecourt.
