DESCRIPTION:The successes or failures of prolonged military campaigns have often been decided by the health of the combat troops. \n  \nOn 20th February 1942\, Colonels H Fairley and I Mackerras wrote ‘when exposed to malaria in New Guinea over 50% of the Australian Force may be destroyed’. Malaria did devastate the force.
