DESCRIPTION:Aviation Enthusiasts Down Under (AEDU) are pleased to present the Canberra Bomber Symposium. \nTo be held on Saturday 7th September 2024 at the conclusion of the Temora Aviation Museum’s September Aircraft Showcase. \n \nThe Temora Aviation Museum’s September 2024 Aircraft Showcase will feature all serviceable aircraft from the RAAF 100 SQN Historic Flight Collection at the Temora Aviation Museum\, which includes the Supermarine Spitfire\, Lockheed Hudson\, Wirraway\, Tiger Moth\, Ryan STM S2\, and many more visiting Warbirds. \nWe also have an extra bonus added to this showcase. Aviation Enthusiast Downunder will be hosting “ THE CANBERRA BOMBER SYMPOSIUM” in the display hangar following the conclusion of the days flying.  \n \n\nExperience the Canberra Bomber in the air & on the ground.\nLearn about the history of the GAF Canberra Bomber in service to Australia.\nJoin us with a live panel of ex-serving members discussing their experiences working with the jet.\nChat with the panel members\, Museum staff who maintain the aircraft & serving members who fly the 100 SQN Canberra Bomber.\nVisit the Aviation Enthusiasts Down Under stand\, meet team members & check out the range of Aviation Photography on display.\n\nDraft September 2024 Aircraft Showcase* \n10.00am: Gates Open \n10.30am: Flightline walk \n11.00am: Flying commences \n1.30pm: Flying concludes  \n2.00pm: Canberra Symposium commences in display hanger \n4.00pm: Event concludes \n* Subject to change \nThe Temora Aviation Museum does not accept any liability for cancellation or alterations to published display content or programs. SUMMARY:Don’t mention the war! Fighting the French in Syria and Lebanon\, 1941
DESCRIPTION:The Syria-Lebanon theatre of the Second World War has become the great undiscussed warzone. Don’t mention the war! \nIn June 1941 Commonwealth\, Australian and Free French forces invaded Syria\, out of concern that Germany may begin using bases occupied by the Vichy French. \nOperation Exporter is probably one of the most misunderstood and forgotten campaigns of World War II. It was a complicated mixture of strategic imperatives around airfields and oil\, politico-diplomatic manoeuvering\, and improvisation with scarce military resources. \nLieutenant-Colonel Ron Lyons (retired) discusses this often forgotten Second World War campaign. Ron served for many years as an office of the Australian Army Reserve and subsequently as a military historian and battlefield guide. He is also Vice-President of The Military History Society of New South Wales and Vice-President of The Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Strategic Studies New South Wales. \nTIME AND VENUE: 10:30AM Saturday\, 7 September 2024 at The Auditorium\, Anzac Memorial Hyde Park\, Hyde Park South\, corner Elizabeth and Liverpool Streets\, Sydney CBD.
