Come along to the National Vietnam Veterans Museum and Rock Away on Labour Day with popular local bands Rockhouse and The Laing Brothers from 11.30am until 4.30pm.\n \nLocal Rock & Roll dance groups will give some lively displays and show you some of their ‘moves’. From medieval marvels to Victoria‚Äôs calisthenics craze\, enjoy an evening of curiosity with our curators as they reveal the stories behind some of their most exciting collection discoveries in the dome galleries. \nState Library Victoria is Australia‚Äôs oldest public library and a beautiful heritage building located in the heart of Melbourne. The Library‚Äôs distinctive spaces\, from the 19th-century Ian Potter Queen‚Äôs Hall\, to the contemporary theatrette are host to a diverse range of vibrant programming for all ages. DESCRIPTION:Probably the only play in the world written for a cast of fifteen women and a nanny goat\, Dinkum Assorted by Linda Aronson is a wild comedy with music and tap dancing\, set alongside some thought-provoking stories about women striving for personal and professional freedom.\nSet during the wartime spring of 1942 in the remote outback town of Warrabadanga\, the female workers at the Dinkum Assorted Biscuit Factory are battling to keep the biscuits baking. \nFor these ordinary Aussie women in a town devoid of men\, life is challenging. Not only are they fighting to save the factory machinery from being sold for scrap\, they’re running a ‘Mum’s Army’ Civil Defence Unit\, putting on a show for the war effort and coping with the sudden arrival of 2000 American airmen stationed just outside town. \nDirected by Jennie Roles with musical direction by Ron Sudden and featuring a cast of 15 local ladies\, Queenscliffe Lighthouse Theatre Group’s production of Dinkum Assorted opens Friday October 12th at Queenscliff Uniting Church Hall with evening performances at 7:30pm on the 12th\, 13th\, 18th\, 19th and 20th\, and 2:00pm matinees on the 13th\, 14th and 20th. \nTickets are $29 for adults\, $25 concession and $20 for groups of 20 or more\, and are available through this website by clicking on the link below\, or at the Queenscliffe Visitor Information Centre\, 55 Hesse St Queenscliff.
