Kevin Cooke started his military career in a battalion that was a direct descendant of one of the four Victorian Infantry Battalions that took part in that famous charge at Villers-Bretonneux.
on 24/25th April 1918.
The City of Essendon’s historic link with Villers-Bretonneux¬†is maintained today¬†with the Regimental Colours of the 58th Battalion¬†occupying a hallowed place in Essendon’s Town Hall.
