It was Australia’s longest war, but how much do we know about what the Australian Defence Force did in Afghanistan? 
In this lecture, one of the authors of the Official History of Australian Operations in Afghanistan, will explain the different aspects of Australia’s contribution to the war, examining in turn the rationale for Australia’s involvement and how its objectives changed over time.
Speaker: Dr Rhys Crawley is an historian at UNSW Canberra and author of the Official History of Australian Operations in Afghanistan, 2005-10.

The venue for The Military History Society of NSW lecture program is the Auditorium on the lower level of Anzac Memorial Hyde Park, corner of Elizabeth and Liverpool Streets, Sydney CBD. Numerous bus services stop at the location and Museum railway station is only 160 metres away. The venue opens its doors at around 10:00AM.
