Brad Manera presents The Defence of Rorke’s Drift

February 8 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

How much do you know about ‘The Defence of Rorke’s Drift’ – a vivid and evocative painting depicting one of the most famous battles of the Zulu War?

Purchased by the Art Gallery of NSW in 1882, this dramatic artwork by Alphonse de Neuville is still prominently displayed in the Gallery’s South Building.

Join Brad Manera, Senior Historian and Curator at the Anzac Memorial, as he takes a deep dive into the details and history of this extraordinary image and reveals its little-known secrets – including a mysterious Australian connection. Brad will also be bringing along some Zulu War-era artefacts to illustrate this fascinating story.
