Lunch with Annabelle Brayley

“I have said in the past that I never planned to be a writer, and I didn’t, but Our Vietnam Nurses has convinced me that this is why I ended up one. I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to meet these amazing people and share their stories. They are ordinary Australians who, one way or another, answered the call to serve their country and, in doing so, achieved remarkable things. We should be proud of them.
All of them have been unfailingly generous, loyal, trusting and treated me as an equal; all defining features of the mateship that distinguishes Australians at war.
Not only did their stories need to be told, but in the telling and reading of them, we can acknowledge them, thank them and, belatedly, welcome them home.”
