Bill Rudd

Bill Rudd is a researcher focused on Australian POW in Europe during WWII. As VX39694 Sergeant Bill Rudd, 9th Division RAE, he was taken POW whilst attached to the 2/28th Battalion in an attack on Ruin Ridge, El Alamein on the night of July 29 1942. Imprisoned in First Campo 57 – Gruppignano, Bill later escaped from Campo 106/Vercelli to Switzerland. He was discharged from the AIF in London in July 1945 and returned to Europe with UNRAA.
