The RHSV holds a biannual conference in support of the research and promotion of local and Victorian history.
The 2014 Conference will be held in two sessions: Friday evening 8 August & Saturday 9 August
The Other Face of War: Victorians and the Home Front
The conference will begin on Friday evening with the opening of the Exhibition ‘The Australian Red Cross in the Great War’ and the annual Augustus Wolksel Memorial Lecture to be delivered by Dr Bart Ziino entitled:
‘At Home with the War: The Great War in Victorian Private Life’
The conference the following day will feature eleven papers by academic and public historians, including keynote lectures by Dr Michael McKiernan whose new book is entitled Victoria at War, 1914-1918 and Ross McMullin whose book Farewell Dear People: Biographies of Australia’s Lost Generation, won the Prime Minister’s Prize for Australian History and the National Cultural Award.
