The Role of the Church during the Battle of Crete in 1941 to 1945

Lecture by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios, titled “The Role of the Church during the Battle of Crete in 1941 to 1945”, to be held at the Church of the Holy Monastery Axion Estin, 7 Hartington St, Northcote.

The events will also be attended by the Consul General for Greece in Melbourne, our Australian Defence Forces, Veteran associations and Victoria’s Greek Australian Community.

The Battle of Crete & Greece Commemorative Council of Victoria, on behalf of the Cretan Brotherhood of Melbourne and Pancretan Association of Melbourne, are pleased to invite you to the following commemorative events on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Crete.

Sunday 18th April 2021 11:30am Official Parade and Wreath Laying Ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Crete at forecourt of the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne, immediately followed by Ceremony at the Australian Hellenic Memorial in the Domain Gardens of Melbourne hosted by the Australian Hellenic Memorial Foundation.

2:00pm Official luncheon in honour of our last remaining ANZAC Greece & Crete Veterans, to be held at the Cretan House, 148‐150 Nicholson Street, Brunswick East. Cost is $50 per head.
