The August Offensive at Gallipoli: an Ottoman Perspective

Here is a rare opportunity to hear from an internationally renowned scholar about arguably the most important battle of the Gallipoli campaign from a Turkish perspective.
Professor Mesut Uyar graduated from the Turkish Military Academy in 1991, later completing an MA in politics and a PhD in international relations at Istanbul University. During his military career he served as a platoon leader and company and battalion commander in various infantry units, completing several tours as a United Nations military observer in Georgia and as a staff officer in Afghanistan. He was appointed assistant professor of international relations at the Turkish Military Academy where he served for ten years. He was also curator of the Military Academy Archive and Museum Division for five years, during which time he began his research on Ottoman military history. He is currently associate professor of Ottoman military history at the University of New South Wales, Canberra.
Because of the considerable interest in this talk, members are encouraged to publicise it widely.
