Boer War Day Service

The annual service commemorating the signing of the peace treaty of Vereeniging on the 31st May 1902 to end the Boer War will take place at the Shrine of Remembrance on Sunday 27th May 2018. The service will pay tribute to the memory of 23,000 men and women who served, and the 1,000 who paid the supreme sacrifice.
The march will commence from the Shrine’s lower forecourt on Anzac Avenue, and finish at the Perpetual Flame. The service commemoration address will be delivered by The Honorable Major General Greg Garde AO RFD QC supported by Creswick Light Horse, Historical Re-enactment Society of Australia, Australian Great War Association, Rats of Tobruk Pipes and Drums, The Salvation Army, Scouts and Guides.

The Scouts and Guides that attend in uniform will be awarded an attractive personalized A4 Certificate. The Hon Michael and Wendy Baden-Powell will be attending. They are the grandson and granddaughter of Lord Baden-Powell of Mafeking the founder of Boy Scouts.
