RUSIV Lunchtime Address

David William ‘Bill’ Rogers became Chancellor of Monash University after a prestigious career in law and the gas and resources industry. He was born in Sydney and educated at Geelong College. He enlisted in the 2nd AIF in March 1944 and served as a signalman with the Allied Central Bureau in New Guinea as a member of the Intelligence Corps. The achievements of these units have only just begun to be revealed: this is the subject of his talk.
After his discharge, he studied law at Melbourne University and practiced with several law firms becoming a senior partner of Arthur Robinson and Hedderwicks. He has been a company director of BHP, AMP, Costain Ltd, Gatic (Australia), APM Division of Amcor and Chairman of Woodside Petroleum. He was Chancellor of Monash University from 1992 to 1997 and received an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from Monash in 1999.
