Sleuthing Military History

Margaret Findlay Commemorative Lecture – “Sleuthing Military History”Lynette Ramsay Silver is a renowned historian and author of several acclaimed books on Australian military history.
Lynette held the position of official Historian to the Australian 8th Division Association from 1995-2002. She became the first civilian to receive a Defence Forces Commendation and Medal from Special Operations Command Australia, for her work during the 60th Anniversary of Operation Jaywick in 2003. In 2004 Lynette was awarded an OAM in the Australia Day Honours for her services to Sandakan veterans and their families. She has also received a Minister’s Special Award for her research work from the Sabah Government in 2009, an unusual honour for a foreigner.

Besides researching and writing and indexing her books, Lynette is also known for her detective skills. She’s an expert on fraudulent claims made about military service, and undertakes work in locating and identifying war graves.

Join us as Lynette takes us into the extraordinary world of the military author.
