First drafts of History: Rediscovering Victoria’s war correspondents

From the Boer War to Vietnam and beyond, Australians have long relied on war correspondents to bring home reports from the frontlines of conflict.
Rediscover Victoria’s war correspondents at a seminar with historians Fay Anderson, Garrie Hutchinson and Richard Trembath. Their presentations at this ‘Making Public Histories’ seminar complement the free inaugural exhibition celebrating the Australian Media Hall of Fame,’Media Legends: the Media Hall of Fame’, presented by the State Library of Victoria in partnership with the Melbourne Press Club.

The seminar is part of the Making Public Histories series, a joint initiative between State Library Victoria, the History Council of Victoria and Monash University’s Institute for Public History. It is a focused seminar series that explores the issues and approaches to historical representation in contemporary society, public history, making history and heritage.

 

This seminar is presented as part of the National Trust Heritage Festival 2016.
